Blood tests – routine blood tests postponed

 A supplier to the NHS has advised us of a global shortage of some equipment used for taking blood tests. 

Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems, will still get one but where your clinician feels that it is appropriate to do so, then you may be asked to come back for a test at a later date, or your appointment may be rescheduled.

 Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date for when the test will be rescheduled, but please be assured that if your condition or symptoms require it, then you will get a test, and we will be re-booking your test when supplies become more easily available.

If your condition or symptoms change or get worse, please contact the NHS as you would normally.

 

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please call 999 and ask for the police. If you are unable to speak you can use the Silent Solution system from a mobile phone: call 999 and then press 55. The operator will then put you through to the police.

The police will try to communicate with you by asking simple yes or no questions. If you are not able to speak, listen carefully to the questions and instructions from the call handler so they can assess your call and arrange help if needed.

Practice Pharmacists

We have  pharmacists in the practice team now who can treat you for minor ailments and help you with medication queries.

NHS Brent Health App

Brent Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) launched the free app in response to calls from patient groups. Brent Health App’s purpose is threefold:

  • To communicate health news
  • Help find local services
  • Provide healthcare information.

Users can also book GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions, access summary medical records, find local services and use as a symptom checker.

To add the app to your phone for free, search Brent Health App in Apple App Store or Google Play.

Sharps Bins

The practice no longer accepts the disposal of sharps bins from patients. Kindly call the Brent Council for more information.

When We Are Closed

If you have an urgent problem when the surgery is closed, please dial 111.

Between 08:00 – 09:00, Monday to Friday, if you feel you cannot wait until we open at 09:00 you can ring 07926 095 795. A member of staff will triage the call and it will be dealt with accordingly. However, you should only call this number only if you think you cannot wait till the practice opens.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
